The winner on quads at Sertões 2011, Tom Rosa, already envisions running with his daughter in a few years. The rider from Ceará returned home on Friday, the day he won the title of the race, in which he participated for the second time. He overcame his opponents even having injured his left hand in the third day of the competition.

Rosa, 46, began racing quads 11 years ago. "At first it was just recreation," said the rider, who "played" in the dunes of Ceará.

But he decided to compete in earnest, and from the very beginning of his career, he won the Rally Cerapió, the Rota Maranhao, RN 1500. Last year, he debuted at Sertões and was the winner in the category 450 and now, with a team totally dedicated to him, became overall champion of the sport.

Rosa said he had been adequately prepared for this year and used his head during the dispute. "I had a good machine [Yamaha 700] and prepared myself: I went to the gym, lost a little weight. You have to lower the drinking, carousing, so you focus on what you want to do", he said.

“It’s not just about speeding. You have to take care on radars and focus to finish well. The navigation is also important for you to have a good advantage over their opponents”.

The champion has a 16-year-old daughter who also accelerates. "She also rides quads. If she wishes to race a Sertões after 18, I will race with her. It depends on her will", said the rider from Ceará, who completed the race in Caucaia, a neighboring city to Fortaleza, on Friday, and was joined at the ceremony the family's arrival promotional.
